DENVER, October 31, 2007 – Despite its late fall opening in 2006 and a record-setting winter of cold and snowfall, The Shops at Northfield Stapleton attracted huge crowds over the holiday season with its inaugural Symphony in Lights holiday light show – the first of its kind for a shopping center. As a result, The Shops at Northfield Stapleton was honored by The International Council of Shopping Centers (ICSC) with a Silver MAXI Award in Public Relations.
The MAXI Awards, an international competition, honors outstanding achievement in shopping center marketing. The award was presented to The Shops at Northfield Stapleton at ICSC’s 2007 MAXI Awards ceremony in New Orleans on October 17. The Shops at Northfield Stapleton won its award in the “Public Relations” category of shopping centers with one million to 1.39 million square feet of total retail space.
The Symphony in Lights, which was free to the public, ran from November 18 – December 31. More than 250,000 LED lights lit up a football field-sized area of buildings. The lights were programmed to flick on and off, run up and down and pulse to the high-energy music of the Trans-Siberian Orchestra. The show was designed and choreographed by internationally renowned holiday light hobbyist Carson Williams.
The 2007 edition of Symphony in Lights runs November 17 through December 31. The show is free and runs nightly from 6:00 – 9:00 p.m. Opening night features a 100-member parade featuring Santa Claus with marching bands, giant lighted puppets, entertainers and more.
